Citizens Bank Protest
Indivisible Newark DE and Indivisible Highlands and Beyond co-organized a protest against Citizens Bank.
When banks fund ICE detention, they are not neutral — they are complicit. Citizens Bank is a major lender to companies that build and operate ICE detention centers, profiting from a system that cages and abuses immigrants. We came together to demand accountability and to make it clear: our communities will not accept banks fueling ICE abuse.
Remember and Resist
Protest and Vigil in Memory of Alex Pretti, who was murdered by ICE in Minneapolis, and all the victims of ICE Violence.
Indivisible Newark DE joined with communities across the country to voice our grief and outrage at the murder of Alex Pretti, a hero who was executed by masked ICE thugs as he was coming to the aid of a fellow ICE observer in Minneapolis.
Around 700 people gathered in below-twenty-degree temperatures to raise their signs and voices in solidarity with Minnesotans and to express grief for all victims of ICE violence. The names of 39 victims were read, and a moment of silence was observed for each during the candlelight vigil.
Alex was the second person to be killed in less than a month by the occupation forces in the Twin Cities. In both cases, the Trump regime responded by blocking investigations, libeling the victims, and claiming it can murder with impunity. We affirmed that we could not allow lawless secret police to continue terrorizing our communities.
ICE Out for Good
January 11 was a National Day of Action to get “ICE Out for Good” in Memory of Renee Nicole Good, who was murdered by ICE in Minneapolis.
Attendees bundled up and braved frigid temperatures to carry homemade signs and make their voices heard, alongside 1200 similar events nation-wide.
Joined by Governor Matt Myers and State Rep. Mara Gorman, the message of the day was clear: we do not want ICE in our neighborhoods terrorizing working families and threatening the lives of our neighbors!
Turnout was estimated at upwards of 750 protesters.
Hands Off Venezuela
On Wednesday, January 7, an estimated 150 protesters gathered on short notice on a weeknight to tell the Trump administration to keep
Hands Off Venezuela!
On January 3rd, the Trump regime used the U.S. military to overthrow the government of Venezuela. This was a blatant attack on a sovereign nation to steal resources - in this case oil. But it was also an attack on basic standards of international law, and on the American system that limits the power of Presidents.
No More Grinch Greed
At a time when Americans were feeling the effects of high inflation, high grocery prices, and high utility prices, Donald Trump called affordability a "Democrat hoax." Earlier in the year, his administration had cut programs that people relied on and imposed tariffs which were ultimately paid for by consumers - that's us! Americans deserved better.
Our protesters stood out on Center Boulevard - a high-traffic area in the Christiana shopping complex - to express our frustrations and to let drivers know we shared their pain! A grinch or two were displeased, but many friendly honks and waves warmed us and made it all worthwhile.
Rapid Response: Fund Healthcare
In November 2025, the Continuing Resolution that ended the government shutdown did nothing to protect healthcare access. Affordable Care Act subsidies relied upon by millions of Americans for their coverage was at risk.
Gutting healthcare, health research, and public health funding while giving tax cuts to billionaires and expanding corporate welfare threatened to destabilize our economy, widened social inequalities, and was a direct threat to families.
The clock was ticking. Healthcare costs would skyrocket without action. Indivisible Newark DE organized to send a strong message: Congress must act to protect Affordable Care Act subsidies.
No Kings II Nationwide Protest
With 2,600 events across the country, No Kings II drew an estimated 5 to 7 million attendees, making it one of the largest single-day demonstrations in American history.
Americans were concerned with Trump overreach, unnecessary cruelty to immigrants, lack of due process in law enforcement, and armed federal takeovers of American city streets.
With an estimated 6,000 to 7,000 attendees in and around UD's North Green, and optional 1.5 mile march, this was our biggest event of the year. We were so proud of our Newark-area protesters and organizers, who were united in the message: government is put in place by the people, for the people. We will not stand for tyranny. There are NO KINGS in the U.S.A!
End ICE Cruelty
The Trump administration told us they were going after "the worst of the worst" immigrant criminals. But day after day, we saw reports of intimidation and violence by an overzealous administration and thuggish agents. They arrested and deported citizens and immigrants who had arrived in the U.S. legally. They broke up immigrant families. They quickly erected detainment centers where people are kept in inhumane conditions. They fought against and ignored lawful oversight and court orders.
We raised our signs and voices to be seen and heard: we wanted this ICE cruelty to stop!
Good Trouble Lives On Nationwide Protest
This was a day to honor the memory of civil rights leader and congressman John Lewis, who said "Never, ever be afraid to make some noise and get in good trouble, necessary trouble."
On a weeknight - one of the hottest, most humid days on record in 2025 - hundreds of Newarkers stood in solidarity with 1,600 similar “Good Trouble” protests held across the nation. Participants gathered at the steps of Old College Hall to hear remarks before marching down Main Street and along Cleveland Avenue. Guest speakers included state representatives Madinah Wilson-Anton and Kendra Johnson.
Those who defied the intense heat and humidity brought energy enough to fill the streets—energy fueled by deep concern over an out-of-control Trump administration.
This is what democracy looks like!
No Kings Nationwide Protest
Millions of patriots gathered at thousands of locations across the nation in peaceful protest of the rising authoritarianism of Trump and his administration. Taxpayers opposed an authoritarian military parade in our nation's capitol on the president's birthday!
A HUGE crowd of an estimated 6,000 to 7,000 Newarkers gathered at the steps of Old College Hall before marching through downtown in a powerful show of unity. The program featured remarks from Governor Matt Meyer and other speakers, along with spirited flag-waving by enthusiastic protesters. The message of the day was one of hope, peace, the rule of law, democracy, and freedom from tyranny.
In the U.S.A., we do not respect would-be kings!
