Indivisible Newark DE held a Rapid Response Protest to voice our outrage at the recent U.S. Supreme Court decision that dismantled key features of the Voter Rights Act, including gutting protections against racially-based gerrymandering.

For over 60 years, the Voting Rights Act – often called the crown jewel of the U.S. Civil Rights Movement - protected minorities from being locked out of equitable representation in elected offices. With this blatantly political decision by the Roberts’ Court, the votes of millions in gerrymandered districts have been diminished and ignored.

Newark residents stood up against this move by those aligned with the Trump regime to tilt the scales of electoral politics and steal power, affirmed by a thoroughly compromised Supreme Court.
