Protesters gathered on a Friday afternoon for May Day Strong, a national initiative that urged collective action. Indivisible Newark, DE collaborated with Indivisible Highlands and Beyond for a multi-location series of protests along Route 2.

We have seen a growing domination of American political and economic life by billionaires and large corporate interests, while ordinary workers increasingly are left to struggle to afford basic necessities. Public resources are directed toward corporate contracts, surveillance, detention, and enforcement systems while schools, healthcare, housing, and community programs remain underfunded. Through marches, walkouts, boycotts, and “No Work, No School, No Shopping” actions, participants sought to demonstrate the collective economic power of ordinary workers and communities.
