RESPONSE TO ELECTION
INTERFERENCE
We are preparing to publicly respond before, during, or after the midterms if there are attempts to interfere with the rights of voters to cast their ballots, with the States' responsibilites to administer our elections, or with the seating of duly elected officials.
The Purpose of Planning
“When someone shows you who they are, believe them the first time.” ---Maya Angelou
Jan 6, 2021
Trump’s last election loss led to a multi-step effort to overturn the result, culminating on Jan 6.
The Jan. 6 Committee detailed a “multi-part plan to overturn the 2020 Presidential election.”
— U.S. House January 6 Committee
State of Emergency
Trump has declined to rule out using
emergency powers in the lead-up
to the midterm elections
“I don't rule anything out or in. We'll see.”
— Donald Trump, Sept. 2026,
Accepting the Results
Trump has made his acceptance of the election results conditional on whether he considers them honest.
“I will if the elections are honest.”
— Donald Trump, Feb. 2026
Taking Office
A prominent conservative former judge warned that election winners could be stopped from taking office.
“Even a decisive victory… will not guarantee that a Democratic majority-elect will be seated.”
— J. Michael Luttig, September 2026
It is better to prepare for a threat that never comes than to face one without a plan.
Our Preparations
Rapid Response
Our Street Presence Team has a toolkit of potential responses, including rapid response protests, visibility brigades, and human banners.
Sustained Response
We may need a new tool in our toolkit: sustained response over multiple days or weeks. Our team is preparing for what that could require.
Default Location
Our designated gathering location is S. College Ave. & W. Main St. in Newark DE. If you’re ever unsure where to find us, head there!
Communication
We are sharing information now so our community knows where to find plans, updates, and information if needed.
Other Helpful Information
You do not need a permit to protest on a public sidewalk. If you think something requires a public response and you haven't heard from us, head to our default location on your own!
Check out this helpful information ahead of time from the ACLU so you Know Your Rights (KYR)! Knowing what to expect can help you feel prepared if you join a demonstration. www.aclu.org/know-your-rights/protesters-rights
Be weather aware! Election interference attempts could happen anytime between now and January. Bundle up as needed, wear comfortable shoes, bring snacks and water, and stay home during severe weather.
