CBP dropped off Nurul Amin Shah Alam, a nearly-blind refugee from Myanmar, at 8:18pm on February 19, 2026  in freezing weather outside of a closed coffee shop in Buffalo, NY. He was 5 miles from his home. Neither his attorney nor his family were notified of the drop-off location.  He did not speak English. He did not have shoes, only orange booties from the detention center. He was found dead 5 days later on a downtown street.
