• Pick your day and time — put it on your calendar.

• Know where you’re voting — confirm your polling place or early-voting location.

• Check what you need to bring — especially your state's voter-ID requirements.

• Preview your ballot — look at a sample ballot and research candidates and ballot questions ahead of time.

• Plan how you’ll get there — drive, walk, public transit, or arrange a ride.

• Have a backup plan — decide what you'll do if work, childcare, transportation, or another problem interferes with Plan A.
