Remember and Resist
Protest and Vigil in Memory of Alex Pretti, who was murdered by ICE in Minneapolis, and all the victims of ICE Violence.
Indivisible Newark DE joined with communities across the country to voice our grief and outrage at the murder of Alex Pretti, a hero who was executed by masked ICE thugs as he was coming to the aid of a fellow ICE observer in Minneapolis.
Around 700 people gathered in below-twenty-degree temperatures to raise their signs and voices in solidarity with Minnesotans and to express grief for all victims of ICE violence. The names of 39 victims were read, and a moment of silence was observed for each during the candlelight vigil.
Alex was the second person to be killed in less than a month by the occupation forces in the Twin Cities. In both cases, the Trump regime responded by blocking investigations, libeling the victims, and claiming it can murder with impunity. We affirmed that we could not allow lawless secret police to continue terrorizing our communities.
ICE Out for Good
January 11 was a National Day of Action to get “ICE Out for Good” in Memory of Renee Nicole Good, who was murdered by ICE in Minneapolis.
Attendees bundled up and braved frigid temperatures to carry homemade signs and make their voices heard, alongside 1200 similar events nation-wide.
Joined by Governor Matt Myers and State Rep. Mara Gorman, the message of the day was clear: we do not want ICE in our neighborhoods terrorizing working families and threatening the lives of our neighbors!
Turnout was estimated at upwards of 750 protesters.
Hands Off Venezuela
On Wednesday, January 7, an estimated 150 protesters gathered on short notice on a weeknight to tell the Trump administration to keep
Hands Off Venezuela!
On January 3rd, the Trump regime used the U.S. military to overthrow the government of Venezuela. This was a blatant attack on a sovereign nation to steal resources - in this case oil. But it was also an attack on basic standards of international law, and on the American system that limits the power of Presidents.
No More Grinch Greed
At a time when Americans were feeling the effects of high inflation, high grocery prices, and high utility prices, Donald Trump called affordability a "Democrat hoax." Earlier in the year, his administration had cut programs that people relied on and imposed tariffs which were ultimately paid for by consumers - that's us! Americans deserved better.
Our protesters stood out on Center Boulevard - a high-traffic area in the Christiana shopping complex - to express our frustrations and to let drivers know we shared their pain! A grinch or two were displeased, but many friendly honks and waves warmed us and made it all worthwhile.
